It significantly changed when patent leather was added to the Air Jordan 1 design in the early 2000s. There have been additional patent variations of the idea in recent years. The Air Jordan 1 Mid, one of the most iconic sneakers of all time, debuted in black and metallic gold in 2019 and is set to return in 2023 as part of the Holiday 2023 collection.
This updated version honors the 2003 layout with its classic black, metallic gold, and white color scheme—overlays of black patent leather contrast with the shoe’s white leather upper. Gold accents are added to the Swoosh logos, wings, and tongues. A white midsole and a black rubber outsole round off the design.
Expect the Air Jordan 1 Mid SE Metallic Gold to drop at select Jordan Brand shops and Nike.com on October 21st, as shown in the images below. Retail is set for $135.
