Outside of the “Chicago” motif, the “Cool Grey” theme was well received in the sneaker community. Making its presence known on the Air Jordan 3, Air Jordan 4, Air Jordan 9 and undoubtedly Air Jordan 11. While the Air Jordan 11 Bred just enjoyed its fourth retro treatment since its original release back in 1996. Many left wondering when will Jordan Brand find the appropriate time to give the Air Jordan 11 Cool Grey another retro treatment. Perhaps, this time adding the high patent leather cut displayed on foregoing releases. The Air Jordan 11 “Cool Grey” was first introduced in March 2001, retailing for $125, becoming an instant staple in the sneaker community, selling out instantaneously from stores everywhere.
Nine years later, Jordan Brand took the silhouette out of its vault for another run in Christmas 2010. Which, in turn, had the same effect as its first drop, bearing a new wave of sneaker aficionados fetching after the shoe, all while successfully adding a more current demographics of collectors into the residence. Now, what’s going to be 10 years, later next year, a new round of fanatics and older ones who never got the chance to purchase a pair have taken it online, to petition for Jordan Brand to bring the Cool Grey’s back for one more dance. Since then, rumors and predictions of the shoe returning to market 2020 have doubled and demand for the classic has significantly heightened.
Although a substantial amount of what’s to come next year, colorways and images have leaked by now. Jordan Brand is notorious for keeping a few tricks up their sleeves. That is not saying nor confirming the Air Jordan 11 “Cool Grey” is in fact happening. But not much else is known about next year’s Holiday release, aside from a few confirmed colorways, anything is possible.
