This year, the Air Jordan 13 turns 23 since its inception in ’97. To celebrate Jordan Brand is bringing back the Air Jordan 13 Flint for 2020, a colorway notoriously famous not only for its color combination but also its 3M detailing on the side panels, as part of a wider “Truest to OG” collection. But today, we take a look at a rare sample of what looks to be a remix of the beloved “Bred” colorway featuring white pods instead of the traditional black, spotted on Mike back in 1997. The same year the Air Jordan 13 had its breakout year with a release such as; Black toe, made famous by Denzel Washington in He Got Game, hence its nickname, followed by a slew of releases in 1998.
While more designs are scrapped than are actually released, the past few years Jordan Brand has proven otherwise with the release of the ‘Grey Toe’ Air Jordan 13 back in 2014, inspired by an original 1998 Sample. So, it’s not uncommon to see JB bring out a sample from years ago with minor tweaks in design from the sample changes to the finished product. In conclusion, there’s a slight chance we may see these Air Jordan 13 Sample releases in the near future with minor design changes but can’t guarantee for sure 2020 will be the year.
