The great Virgil Abloh continues to break barriers even after his unfortunate and untimely death, with Nike and Louis Vuitton releasing 200 Monogram pairs through Sotheby’s shortly! With Paris Fashion Week currently happening as we speak, it was due time until we saw Virgil’s friends and family reveal the pairs that were exclusively given to them to wear to the Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2022 Fashion Show being placed this week. Each person was given a different pair consisting of a two-tone color scheme, offset tongue tags, oversized “AIR” logo is placed on the midsole, added verbiage on the laces, and of course, the most noticeable and protrude detail being the infamous LV Monogram embroidery running through the uppers. Some pairs that we have seen so far consist of Yellow, Green, Blue, Brown, and a few White pairs. The line is expected to include Louis Vuitton luggage equipped with Nike’s signature emblem tag atop the bags. Unfortunately, the pairs previewed by Virgil’s friends and family will not be sold to the public. Still, the only chance you will have to purchase the Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 will be through auction via Sotheby’s this spring/summer limited to 200 pairs. Rumor has it that pairs are expected to retail $5,000 to USD 15,000, but reports say proceeds from the auction would go to Virgil Abloh’s scholarship fund for black fashion students.
