Nike’s latest Air Max 90 features a visually appealing color palette combining “Anthracite” and “Mystic Red,” set to make a big splash this fall.
The uppers and tongues of these shoes are constructed with a robust black mesh reinforced by a thick nubuck overlay in charcoal. The “Anthracite” moniker is aptly conveyed by the deeper tone brought about by this overlay. Adding a classic black leather mudguard reinforces the notion of monochromatic refinement while also contributing a lovely layered aspect to the design. Shades of black and grey are used for the sole unit, laces, and liners, adding visual intricacy.
The predominantly subdued color scheme is considerably interrupted by two contrasting elements: flawless white Swoosh overlays and bright spots of “Mystic Red.” Red is used extensively throughout the design, from the forward eyestays to the branding panels to the Air cassettes to the outsole tread.
Expect the Nike Air Max 90 Mystic Red to drop at select Swoosh shops and Nike.com in the coming weeks, as shown in the images below. Retail is yet to be known.
