Jackie Robinson made his major league debut for the Brooklyn Dodgers on April 15, 1947, at first base, breaking the color barrier in baseball. He was the first African-American to play first base in the major leagues. Nike will help mark the event’s 75th anniversary by releasing a unique Nike Dunk Low in honor of the occasion. The shoe arrives dressed in Dodgers color blocking with “I’m not concerned about whether you like or dislike me,” he adds in a comment that comes on the heels of this Nike Dunk Low. Printed on the insoles are the words, “All I want is that you treat me with decency as a human being.” In addition, there is a commemorative 1975 anniversary emblem on the tongues, and baseball embroidered laces are set on top of an off-white medium-density midsole and a black rubber outsole to give the shoe a polished appearance. The Nike Dunk Low Jackie Robinson is scheduled to be available at select retailers and on Nike.com sometime around April 2022.
